The Minecraft Hunger Strike (1.19.3, 1.19.2, 1.19.1, 1.19, 1.18.2, 1.18.1, 1.17.1, 1.16.5) mod's goal is to reduce the hunger system for players who want to play in a Survival world without continually feeding themselves. The mod is intended to be per-player customizable for SMP servers, so not all players must be compelled one way or the other. This will cause the balance to shift, but whether or not that is acceptable is entirely up to you.

The following functional modifications are made for impacted players by the mod
- The hunger bar is set at half-full. This enables running while disabling health regen.
- If the player has the "hunger" effect, their hunger gauge will fall below the sprint threshold.
- If the player is affected by the "regeneration" effect, their hunger gauge will reach its maximum.
- Eating food restores health instantaneously at half the food value of a specific food item. A cookie, for example, will heal half a heart. A cooked pork chop will regenerate two hearts.
